HOUSTON – Powell Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:POWL) saw its shares surge 10% after the electrical energy solutions provider reported fourth-quarter earnings that significantly exceeded analyst expectations, driven by strong execution across its manufacturing operations.
Powell’s stock jumped 10% following the announcement as investors reacted positively to the earnings beat and solid performance across key metrics.
The company reported fourth-quarter earnings of $4.22 per share, beating analyst estimates of $3.72 by $0.50. Revenue came in at $298 million, surpassing the consensus estimate of $291.5 million and representing an 8% increase YoY.

“Our fourth quarter marked a solid finish to another record year for Powell,” said Brett A. Cope, Powell’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We delivered gross profit dollar growth of 16% on revenue growth of 8%, which is a testament to the ongoing high levels of execution across our manufacturing footprint.”
The company’s new orders totaled $271 million in the fourth quarter, a 1% increase from the prior year, while its backlog as of September 30, 2025, stood at $1.4 billion, up 3% YoY. Growth was primarily driven by higher revenue from the Electric Utility and Light Rail Traction Power markets, which grew by 100% and 85% respectively.
For the full fiscal year 2025, Powell reported revenues of $1.1 billion, a 9% increase from fiscal 2024, and net income of $180.7 million, or $14.86 per diluted share, up 21% from the previous year.
The company also completed the acquisition of Remsdaq Ltd., a U.K.-based manufacturer of SCADA Remote Terminal Units for electrical substation control and automation, which is expected to enhance Powell’s automation solutions offering.
Looking ahead, Powell expressed confidence in its ability to deliver strong financial results in fiscal 2026, supported by its current backlog and expectations for continued strong order activity across its major markets.
